In my latest video I’m embracing black and white photography on a super overcast gloomy winter day.

I was shooting on my Nikon Z6III camera and the Nikkor 28mm F2.8 Z lens. I set the camera to Monochrome mode, but the file format was RAW as always. However, I never looked at these photos in color even though the RAW format would make it possible. I wanted to keep the whole process from start to finish in black and white so it would be like shooting black and white film. With film you don’t have a choice, you either shoot color or black and white. I like that approach because it keeps me focused on what I’m doing. If I started thinking in color all of a sudden, it would disturb my monochrome flow.
When it comes to camera setting, I was on manual exposure and auto ISO. That is my preferred setting for street but sometimes I also use aperture or shutter priority.
