In my recent video I experimented with long shutter speed and intentional random motion blur. It turned out to be a fun experiment but also really challenging.
We tend to think there is some challenge in capturing sharp photos but I’d like to disagree. Sharp is way easier than motion blur mainly because it’s predictable. It’s either sharp or it’s not, but there are no other options. With motion blur there are so many variables and the element of surprise is present constantly. The final photo can be blurry in so many ways and the moving elements in the scene add to the experience. Therefore it’s very hard to predict how the end result will look until you see it. It takes a lot of trial and error to get the hang of it and still even the best prediction can go wrong. However, that’s part of the fun too.
