Kuala Lumpur in Black & White

Here are some black and white images from Kuala Lumpur that I shot during my three week stay there. As you can see, there are no people in these pictures and there is a reason for that. I wanted to keep these to a bare minimum, almost abstract, and just shades of gray on different leyers. People tend to draw the viewer’s attention and I didn’t want that in this series. Kuala Lumpur is a busy place, and when I was shooting these, there were cars and pedestrians all over the place. Sometimes I had to take quite a few frames to get one without a human. I arranged the images so that the feeling gets more positive towards the end. The first images are almost gloomy, but especially the last one is pretty happy, I think. There are nice flowing lines, sharp shadows that indicate sunshine and stairs to a higher level. Enjoy!
